Terminology Settings

Customize the terminology used throughout Tether to match your business vocabulary. If you call products “items” or warehouses “locations,” configure Tether to use your terms.
Terminology customization requires Admin access.

Why Customize Terminology?

Go to Settings

Navigate to Settings in the sidebar

Select Terminology

Click on Terminology section

The following terms can be customized in Tether. For each term, you can set a custom singular form, plural form, and description.

Find the Term

Locate the term you want to change

Enter New Term

Type your preferred terminology

Review Plural

Verify or adjust plural form

Save

Apply the change

Singular, Plural, and Description

Configure all three fields for each term: Tether automatically uses the correct singular or plural form in context.

Where Changes Apply

Updated terminology appears throughout the application. Tether includes a live preview on the settings page so you can see how your custom terms will look before saving.

Use terms from your:
  • ERP system

  • Internal documentation
Use the same terms everywhere:
  • All systems
  • Training materials
  • Communications
Avoid overly complex terms:
  • Clear and concise
  • Easy to understand
  • Commonly used in your industry
When updating terminology:
  • Notify all users
  • Update training materials
  • Allow adjustment period

Resetting to Defaults

To restore original Tether terminology:

Go to Terminology Settings

Navigate to terminology configuration

Click Reset

Choose reset option

Confirm

Confirm you want to reset
You can reset individual terms or all at once.

Troubleshooting

Changes Not Appearing

Possible causes:
  • Browser cache
  • Not saved
  • Page not refreshed
Solutions:
  1. Refresh the page
  2. Clear browser cache
  3. Verify changes were saved

Inconsistent Terminology

Possible causes:
  • Partial changes
  • Plural not updated
  • Some areas use hardcoded text
Solutions:
  1. Review all term settings
  2. Update singular and plural
  3. Contact support for hardcoded areas
